Topic: term of use need to follow

Hello, i'm considering to use Online Maps to display Google Map in my game.
According to your document, i can choose Google Maps as the provider property and tileset as the target property.
In this case, could you kindly tell me what's Google license, api i have to purchase, the term of use i have to follow and the limitation i can use?
Thank you in advance.

Re: term of use need to follow

Hello.

If you need a legal way, you need to use another provider.
Online Maps has presets for all known compatible providers of tiles.
Most providers of tiles have paid tariffs or free.
But Google Maps does not have legal ways to use other than Google Maps API.

Re: term of use need to follow

Thank you for your quick reply.
We're still considering to use Google Maps in our game.
In this post, you said that we can cache the map tile. Is this legal?

So my question is what Google Maps API we should use?
I'm sorry because i couldn't find any information about this problem.

Re: term of use need to follow

Here you need to understand one simple thing: Online Maps is not Google Maps API.
This can be Google Maps JavaScript API, Google Maps Android API, etc.
But there is no Google Maps Unity API.
Online Maps uses some Google Maps web services and it's legal.
But the use of tiles, no. So you can use it at your own risk.

If we talk about caching in general:
Yes, it's legal. It's not a mass download. You cache only what has already been downloaded.

Re: term of use need to follow

Do you mean there's no way to use Google Maps legally in OnlineMaps?
All we need is displaying the map and markers base on user current location.

P/s: what's about this post?

Re: term of use need to follow

Yes it is.
You can legally use any other provider.
Other providers providers also give good quality tiles.
If you want to be able to style tiles, use mapbox.
If you need the same satellite imagery that in Google Maps, you can get them from DigitalGlobe.
You can use markers with any provider, so it's not a problem.
If your goal - legality, why you need exactly Google Maps?

What about this post?!
User is asked - how much. I have given the information that I know.

Re: term of use need to follow

Thank you so much for you quick reply.
In Online Maps document, it said that providers of tiles are including Google Map and we can style it. So could you tell me what's the violation of the Google Maps term of use if we still use google maps?

I asked this because this man asked about google maps limit per day and your answer's 100MB of tiles per user per day, so i thought that it must have a legal way to use google maps with this limitation.

We'll consider to use other alternative provider as you recommented, but i don't see Mapbox or DigitalGlobe in current provider list in Online Maps script. How can i choose it?

Step by step instructions for MapBox in the documentation section «Using Mapbox Studio Classic».
In Online Maps v2.5 this provider is added to the list.

Digital Globe:

To use, select «Provider - Custom», and enter URL with your MapBox access token:

Hello Alex
Thank you for your guide.

Could you explain more detail about this point?

Re: term of use need to follow

Hello.

You mean, what would happen if you continue to use Google Maps in your application?
Absolutely nothing.
Google can give a temporary blocking for specific user, if it is an entire day to scroll map and generate huge traffic.
But it's easy to work around using caching.
