Topic: Marker created at center of map is 1 unit off

Hi Alex

I've be doing some prototyping with the tileset map demo, and noticed that the 3D marker created on gps loc changed event is not actually located at 0,0,0; which should be the center of the map. Here's my marker creation:

var marker3D = OnlineMapsMarker3DManager.CreateItem(markerPosition, markerPrefab);
Debug.Log("3D marker created at map GO pos: " + marker3D.instance.gameObject.transform.position.ToString());

3D marker created at map GO pos: (1.0, 0.0, -1.0)

Along with creating the 3D map marker, I also spawn a game object into the scene as follows:

var arObjPos = Camera.main.transform.position;
arObjPos.y = 0;
Debug.Log("spawned AR scene object at pos: " + arObjPos.ToString());

spawned AR scene object at pos: (0.0, 0.0, 0.0)

As I mentioned, it's the tileset control demo with a location service component added.  Demo scene camera is at (-512, 1024, 512).  Loc services uses update map setting.

Anyway, since the marker is at (1,0,-1) I thought that might be something you were doing, or maybe it was just accuracy variance, or worse yet something stupid I was doing.  I tried re-creating the tileset demo  with this setup multiple times and the result is always the same.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Hello.

What values do you have in map.position, map.floatZoom and markerPosition?

Re: Marker created at center of map is 1 unit off

Thanks for the response Alex.  Started a fresh Tileset Demo scene, here are the results:

3D marker created at map GO pos: (-511.0, 0.0, 511.0)

for markerPosition: (-109.31370000, 45.63195000)

for map.Position: (-109.31370000, 45.63195000)

for map floatZoom: 14

spawned AR scene object at pos: (-512.0, 0.0, 512.0)

dist between markers is: 1.4142 m

Re: Marker created at center of map is 1 unit off

Just checked it out.
Unfortunately, the formulas are not perfect, and there will always be a small error in the calculations (about 0.1%), and I cannot improve it.
For your settings and 1024x1024 map, I have an error of about 0.5 Unity World Point on the axis.
