Topic: Google maps pricing with Online Maps

Hello,

I consider using Online Maps in mobile with Google Maps. From Google Maps pricing page I found that dynamic and static Google Maps are FREE for mobile, except "Maps Static API" and "Maps Javascript API" that do cost something.

Do I actually need those APIs from Google if I use Online Maps? In other words, can I use Google Maps with Online Maps in mobile without the costs for Maps Javascript API or Maps Static API?

Hello.

A legal way to use Google Maps tiles is Tiles API.
https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/tile/
This service is not for everyone, and access to it will most likely be very expensive.
So I recommend using any other tile provider.
Which one to use depends on your needs, for example:
- If you need satellite images, Google uses satellite images from third-party vendors such as DigitalGlobe. You can use DigitalGlobe directly.
- If you need stylized maps - Mapbox has a lot more styling options, and an excellent pricing policy.
