Google API key is not used in url of tiles.
This is only used for Google API web services.
For example:

Yes, of course Google Maps has limits, but in this case they are individual for each user (one user does not affect the other).
For tiles, there is no price. Read more here:

Hello, I'm successfully using this plugin but I got a question. I am aware for Google Maps API calls I need an API key (which I provide). But there is no input for a key for underworkings of the plugin, by this I mean the actual map generation (I'm using terrain by the way). So, is there a hidden limit / cost? Would I need an API key and do something special only for the base stuff to work with unlimited devices? Thanks.
